Playing the Mental Game

Making THE OCTOBER GAME: Abstraction

I’m thinking through the interactions of the game. How players score against the enemy, now the enemy moves, what the background looks like. There’s no need for code yet, so I’m visualizing the game in my mind,

Image not found, duh. But it’s amaaaazing! The colors dude!

then I make sketches,

then abstract Photoshop illustrations of the static playfield,

Again, it’s hard to resist decorating a little

Thinking it through, I gain insights into what would make the game more fun and more marketable. I add ideas to my design doc for later review.

New ideas always need a little time to cool off. This gives my subconscious time to work in the background.
